Chicago’s Premier Wine and Craft & Imported Beer Tasting Event benefiting Catholic Charities Self-Sufficiency Programs

On Sunday, January 29th, 2017 from 2 to 6 p.m., Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago hosts the 16th Annual d’Vine Affair, a premier wine & craft beer tasting event held at the Union League Club of Chicago! Benefiting Catholic Charities self-sufficiency programs, guests can sample wine and beer from around the world.

Expecting more than 450 attendees, the annual event is hosted by Monsignor Michael M. Boland, President of Catholic Charities, along with event founders and chair-couples Joseph and Helen Glunz of Louis Glunz Wines, Inc. and Joseph Jr. and Kristin Glunz, as well as co-chair couple John Cohn and Erin Reardon Cohn.

“Our family self-sufficiency programs, assist low-income, single parents break the cycle of welfare and poverty. We provide education, training, employment assistant and case management for up to five years so these families can become fully self-sufficient,” said Monsignor Boland. “The d’Vine Affair directly benefits these vital programs.”

Catholic Charities self-sufficiency program client Lumba, a single parent in Lake County, says that she is “very thankful for the help this program has extended. When I was homeless, they picked me up and gave me a helping hand.”

Boasting 250 different wines from around the world and several craft and imported beers, guests will be able to sample wines from more than 90 vintners, and beer from at least 6 breweries many of which will be poured by the vintners and brewers themselves, along with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

A Wine-Appreciation Seminar kicks off the afternoon at 1:30 pm, where guests can learn, listen and taste with a local wine expert. From 2-6 pm, guests will enjoy tastings, silent auction and prize raffles, plus a Live Barrel of Wine Auction, which equals 25 cases of wine! The silent auction will showcase an amazing array of wine and other items including a raffle drawing, which will give guests a chance to stock up their own wine cellar! All proceeds from the event will go towards benefitting the self-sufficiency programs. Last year’s event raised $140,000 for Catholic Charities Self-Sufficiency Programs.

The Union League Club of Chicago is located at 65 W. Jackson. Tickets are $125. For more information, list of participating wineries and breweries or to purchase tickets, please visit
