Youth Mentoring Services

Make a difference in your community! Mentors are needed to work with boys in eighth through 10th grades from the Back of the Yards / New City community. Mentors must be at least 21 years of age, have reliable access to transportation, and pass a background check. Mentors must agree to a one-year commitment to the program and spend a minimum of 5 hours a month with the mentee.

For more information, fill out the Contact Us form below or contact Viridiana Godinez, Youth Mentoring Program Coordinator, at, (312) 655-7970.

The Lake County Youth Mentorship Program pairs youth ages 9-12 from Waukegan with volunteer mentors who can serve as positive role models, encourage good decision-making and be a friend during times of need. Youth who participate in the program will learn how to set goals, process difficult emotions, improve communication skills, develop new hobbies and interests, and improve self-confidence. Mentors must be at least 21 years old and willing to meet with their mentee for 2 hours each week for at least 1 year. Potential volunteers and interested youth are encouraged to contact program staff for eligibility information.
